Zelinski Public Relations is the successor firm to Healy Partners & Company, which was founded in 1987 by Maury Healy, a former vice president of corporate communications for Bank of America. Jim Zelinski, as vice president, played a key role in the firm which he joined in 1992. In September 1997, Mr. Zelinski purchased the small, but highly respected and award-winning firm.
ZPR is based in San Ramon, California - in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. ZPR was launched and headquartered for many years in San Francisco's Financial District. He has created and executed communications strategies for clients in a wide range of fields: environmental, land use, government, food & beverage, technology, social policy, insurance, energy, medical, health care, aerospace, sports, water conservation, real estate, steel, science and financial services. He has been active in several professional associations.
Zelinski Public Relations serves local, regional, state and national clients. It has a track record of generating media coverage for clients across the U.S.. ZPR has worked with a broad range of audiences and constituencies from the public at large to politicians and companies. For example, Mr. Zelinski played a key role in a national grassroots and media relations campaign for Glendale Federal Bank - involving breach-of-contract issues raised in a lawsuit reviewed by the U.S. Supreme Court - and termed "one of a kind" in an Associated Press article. Zelinski Public Relations maintains a network of seasoned, top tier consultants including former news reporters. It also maintains an affiliation with an established public relations agency in New York.
Mr. Zelinski was a full-time reporter at various newspapers in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1980s and 1990s. Before that he was a free-lance newspaper correspondent while attending college in the early 1980s. Utilizing the GI Bill, Mr. Zelinski earned an Associate of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Chabot Community College at Hayward CA, and then a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from California State University at Hayward while working part and full time. A native Californian, Mr. Zelinski's interests include the environment and sports (he is a lifelong Oakland Raiders and Oakland A's fan).
