OAKLAND’S SEQUOYAH COUNTRY CLUB MAKES HISTORY BY OPENING COURSE TO THE GOLFING PUBLIC ON FOUR MONDAYS TO RAISE FUNDS FOR ACCLAIMED YOUTH GOLF ORGANIZATION “THE FIRST TEE”


OAKLAND (February 7, 2011) – For the first time in nearly a century, Oakland’s Sequoyah Country Club (www.sequoyahcc.com) is opening its historic course to the general golfing public on four Mondays in February and March to raise funds for a nationally known youth golf and life-skills development organization: The First Tee of Oakland. The organization targets the underserved and at-risk students in the Oakland metropolitan area.


Women can conveniently receive a mammography screening at a Martell (near Jackson) Safeway store on Friday, December 10 through an innovative partnership between Catholic Healthcare West-St. Joseph’s Medical Center and the Safeway Foundation.
