IF YOU BUILD IT WE WILL NOT COME!

10,000 SIGNS AND AIRPLANE FLYOVER HIGHLIGHT FANS’ MESSAGE TO RAIDERS TO “STAY IN OAKLAND” AND MAKE CLEAR TO

“LAS VEGAS … IF YOU BUILD IT WE WILL NOT COME!”

OAKLAND (November 5, 2016) — “Stay In Oakland.”  “Las Vegas … if you build it, we will not come!”

Those are the two key messages Oakland Raiders’ fans will deliver to the team, the National Football League (NFL) and a national television audience at the highly-anticipated November 6 matchup vs. the Denver Broncos for first place in the AFC West.

Who:   Members of the grassroots fan groups STAY IN OAKLAND, SAVEOAKLANDSPORTS and the OAKLAND RAIDERS BOOSTER CLUB.  (STAY IN OAKLAND organized the sign effort; fan Jagdeep Bidwal organized the flyover.)

What: Fans to pass out 10,000 signs that urge Raiders to “STAY IN OAKLAND”; signs and airplane flyover also underscore that: “LAS VEGAS … IF YOU BUILD IT, WE WILL NOT COME!” Various fans paid for the signs and flyover.  Activities are part of fans’ ongoing effort to urge the Raiders to reward the East Bay’s 44 years of loyalty and support and stay home in Oakland.

When: Airplane flyover with banner from 2:45 to 4:15 p.m.  “STAY IN OAKLAND” signs to be distributed until approximately 4:45 p.m.

Where: Various locations.

BACKGROUND:   Fans will continue to press their belief that keeping the Raiders in Oakland is in the team’s and NFL’s best interest economically.   Oakland and the East Bay have demonstrated 44 seasons of loyal support to the Raiders.  Fans continue to sell out the games despite years of uncertainty over the team’s future and no winning season in more than a decade!

Fans urge Raiders Owner Mark Davis to stay in our great, economically thriving market and work with East Bay officials, business leaders and fans to build a new stadium in Oakland.  The Oakland/East Bay community has invested so much – through their hearts and wallets – in the Raiders for more than four decades.  The heart and true home of the Raiders is in Oakland.

Fans also want the NFL to know that we believe that the majority of the Raiders legendarily loyal Northern California fan base does NOT support a move to Las Vegas and will not attend games there.

In addition, fan groups here are asking all Raiders fans who attend the game to bring homemade signs with similar messages.
